Vicki HorsfieldExecutive Director
Vicki manages programs, events, external communications, financial operations, and our organizational registration in Canada and in the US. She also teaches our staff English classes and supervises our interns.

William GarciaAssistant Director
William takes on our human resources needs, assists in program development, and oversees our organizational registration in Guatemala. He manages our facility in San Antonio Aguas Calientes and oversees repairs and renovations so that our organization can continue to grow. He also leads our welding program and construction skills program.

Rosita TiradoDevelopment Officer
Rosita leads all communication efforts for the organization, including donor relations, fundraising campaigns, events, and strategic partnerships. She also oversees the organization’s social media presence and website development, working closely with the leadership team to ensure that our mission is clearly and thoughtfully shared.
She genuinely enjoys connecting with people and building meaningful relationships, viewing her role not simply as a job, but as a special mission to support children in need. For Rosita, communicating the heart and impact of the organization is essential—it is a way to honor the work being done every day within the program and to invite others to be part of that story.

Lidia PérezTeacher
Lidia leads our after-school program for students from fourth grade through high school. She walks alongside them in their academic journey—supporting them with homework, research, writing skills, and exam preparation.
She also serves as a key link between our organization and the principals and teachers at the national school, helping ensure strong communication and supporting each student’s academic growth.
Lidia truly enjoys working with the students in our program. She believes that strong teaching values are essential to a student’s development, and nothing brings her more joy than seeing students grow in confidence and make progress in their studies.

Rosa MagdaletyTeacher
Rosa is our preschool teacher here at Creating Opportunities for Guatemalans. She helps students master numbers, the alphabet, and vowels. In the afternoons she teaches grades 1-3, helping them with their homework and reinforcing their mathematics. Rosa loves teaching our young students!

Cecilia TelónAccountant and Assistant to the Executive Director
Cecilia is our in-house accountant and keeps our finances on track. As assistant to the Executive Director, she takes care of a myriad of details. She also coordinates our Women's Reproductive Health Program. Cecilia was sponsored through Creating Opportunities for Guatemalans to attend a high school specializing in accounting. She is an example of how sponsorship leads to a dignified job with a decent salary.

Jessica Zamora HernándezLibrarian
Jessica leads reading activities with students of all ages in our program and in our community to increase their love of reading. She teaches reading and writing to illiterate adults, and helps younger students reinforce their reading skills. In addition to helping students easily locate books at their reading level, at the same time she also teaches them how to care for books. She loves working with children and being a mentor to our students.

Julio CastellanosEnglish Program Coordinator
Julio assists our wonderful volunteer English teachers and keeps our English curriculum on track. He teaches all levels of English when we have no volunteers. His enthusiasm and cheerful personality are an asset to helping our students advance in their English language abilities. He enjoys helping others and participating in our social work projects with our families and children.

Rosa López PérezNutrition Program Coordinator
Rosa leads workshops with mothers in the community to teach them about nutrition and healthy, balanced diets. She prepares the daily snack for our students and also facilitates our dental care program. The best part of her job, she says, is getting to cook and create new healthy snacks.
